ive heard theyre good “begginer” guitars, so does that mean they fall apart after a year or two?

There are a few good guitars in the very low price range that will do the trick. A Squier is a popular brand because it is made by Fender and has a Fender look. However, there are other low-budget guitars that are actually better.

They don’t have the Fender look but they are made better and perform better. I highly recommend:
    +Dean
    +Greg Bennett

there meant to look like Fender strats, but there not the same quality, but o.k. for a beginner,if you can afford a strat and know your going to play for a while spend the extra cash the sound is way better. Be Well

Squiers are fine for beginners, but not because they will fall apart — they aren’t exactly what you would call record-quality. The most important thing to consider is size. Get something that will fit your hand. If you can, visit a music store and get a feel for how your fingers will fit around the neck. Make a note of the nut width and other scale measurements. Even if you don’t buy from the store, you’ll have a good idea what will be comfortable to play.

Style is up to you. “Sound” is secondary at this point. Concentrate on being able to play it, then move on from there.
