I’m getting a Fender electric guitar for the holidays but I can’t decide what model to pick. Should I get a Fender Vintage Hot Rod ’57 Stratocaster or an Eric Clapton Stratocaster? I love to play tones that range from vintage to metal.

I personally am a fan of the tenor medium Fender Telecaster. I have a deep red one, myself.

Fender has american and mexican models … the pick ups on the american strats are better quality and sound better.. they’re also more expensive, but make sure that you’re getting a US one. The EC Strat has almost a more bluesy feel and sound to it if that helps!

Are you stuck on a Fender? Gibson SG (if you get an unfinished wood stain it would be around 699.) is a great guitar… they’re used in everything from country to metal (toni iommi had one).

You might want to check out the Fender Big Block Stratotocaster, two single coils and a humbucker with coil split, jumbo frets. ($769@americanmusical.com).
