You’ll be paying $250 for image, mostly. You really can’t complain about the Epiphone’s 2 Humbuckers.

    BUT

I could never recommend buying a guitar online. Definitely go to Guitar Center or something and play them both, and decide for yourself.

Having tried Gibson Explorers, V’s, and Les Pauls as well as their Gibson counterparts, I would say just get the Epiphone. It sounds as good and feels very close to the same. Unless you want the name or are going for a more expensive Gibson ($1200+) I would go with it.

The gibson will be a slightly better guitar but unless you are going to be touring and recording in a studio a lot it is better to get the Epi. Only audiophiles will tell the difference but it is there.

    Get the Gibson.
