If it’s an original Les Paul this would be sacrilege! Do you know what this would be worth, monetary wise, and sentimental value? If you go someplace, and play it, the guitar virtuosos will think, ” Yeah he’s young, but his guitar shows class, and it’s worn ,showing it’s been used a lot! He must be good!”

Wow… if I had that guitar, I wouldn’t want to change a thing about it. That’s just me, though.
As for the question, I’ve never messed with (or needed or wanted to) the finishes on my guitars, but you can read the pages I’m listing below, ask the guys on guitarists.net (they can answer just about any question you can think of about guitar alterations and tell them Lyra sent you – they may or may not remember me, as it has been a while since I’ve been on), or talk to a guitar tech.
