I have an old Harmony Stratotone (I believe) that is about 50 years old.
The serial of the guitar is under the pick guard I believe and I want to see it to verify the year and model. The screws and everything are original and old. I don’t want to cause harm to the guitar though. Is it safe to unscrew the pick guard? with the really old screws without harming the guitar?
I have a H45 Stratotone I believe.

If you’re careful it should be fine, or you could take it to a proffesional.

It’s perfectly safe, but yes, you should be very careful. You did not indicate which model Stratotone you have, so I will direct you to the following site to correctly age and identify it. I hope you realize that you have a very collectible guitar. Do not part with it unless you have it appraised by a vintage guitar dealer. You can also check the Blue Book, and check for them on eBay.
I own the model (H-49) depicted on this page that opens via the above link, and you can find all the other Stratotones in the list on the left side of the page.
These are very cool guitars and there are lots of sites devoted to them! Just use Google to find them.
