Sam B asked: I have a Gibson Classical Acoustic guitar that my mom got in ‘74 I believe, & I was just wondering how much it’s worth. I don’t know the exact model, & all I can tell you is that it’s in bad condition; there’s a huge ***** in the front, scratches all over, but it still plays (& sounds like crap). I took it up to guitar center to see if they could fix it up at all, & they gave me an estimate for how much it’s worth (or at least how much they’d pay for it) & it shocked me, but I’m just looking for a 2nd opinion. Oh, & by the way, all you vintage guitar collectors shouldn’t get your hopes up–it’s not for sale. This is just pure curiosity. And after I get a few answers, I’ll tell you how much guitar center said it was worth.

alex m asked: I just traded my guitar teacher a Burstbucker for a pair of old Gibson humbuckers that he thought were ‘73 stock but actually turned out to be an original ‘58 PAF humbucker and a 1959-1962 PAT NO. 2,737, 842. I’m not sure they’re actually the models I think they are but all evidence points to it. The one that I’m sure is a ‘58 PAF has the original “Patent Applied For” sticker on the back. The sticker is very old and brittle and could flake off at any moment. The other humucker has the patent number stamped in the back and wikipedia states that it is a pre-1962 humbucker. I’m not sure if I should sell or keep them. Does anybody know how much I could get for them?

J asked: So here’s the deal. I have a decent Fender Stratocaster that I love. However, sitting away in storage for years, I have a Squier Stratocaster that my mother bought my shortly before she passed away. It is approx. 1998 year. It is of sentimental value, and I know squier is fender’s cheap beginners brand. But I just bought a vintage 1950s fender strat neck for it, and plan to put in a new loaded pickguard with lace sensor pickups in it. I know this may seem silly but this guitar is special to my just because it’s from my beloved mother. I want to make it all that it can be. So assuming I put in good pickups and with the 50’s genuine fender neck, what else do I need to upgrade to make it a true fender and not a squier? Thanks!!!

Trevor asked: I was recently given a Gibson ES-125 and would love to keep it around for a while. Should I keep the strings on? Keep it dry or humid? What else needs to be done to maintain it?
