Gibson SG Special (Seymour Duncan SH-6 in neck and bridge)
Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier Tremoverb Head
Avatar Custom 4×12 (2 Celestion Vintage 30s, 2 Celestion G12H)

I’ve heard an EQ can help bring out the tones I’m looking for or maybe plugging a tubescreamer in front of the amp to tighten up the low end? Any thoughts? Thanks.

i have found the seymour duncan hot rails PU for the neck.

is there anyway i could put a humbucker PU (dimarzio tone zone) in the middle.
just to be different??

would it sound good?

Jim asked:

Can someone please translate the following Wikipedia definition of Eddie Van Halen’s brown sound into layman’s terms?

“Van Halen achieved his distinctive tone by using a stock 100-watt Marshall amp, a Variac to lower the voltage of the amp to get high gain distortion at lower volumes, and a “Frankenstrat” guitar Van Halen constructed using a vintage Gibson humbucker pickup rewound by Seymour Duncan.”
