Taylor M asked: My mother bought a solid dark red electric guitar back in 1981. The person she bought it from had completely refurbished it so there was no name or trade mark on it. He told her than that it was 20 yrs old. So the guitar today would be roughly 47 yrs old. I have been told it looks like an old fender. How would i find out?

I believe one of them was a Gibson Flying V and I think the other was a vintage Fender Strat, but I’m not really sure!

I purchased a used Super Reverb around 1971. I owned various other amps for different gigs but the Super was my pride and joy. the Super was stolen around 1986. I dont play much but would like to purchase a guitar amp around 50W-100W with a real good 12″ speaker. I DONT want to spend much. I know there are all kinds of knock-offs of Vintage Fender, Mesa Boogie, etc. Be it new or ebay I want something HOT but cheap…. any legit recommendations?

J asked: So here’s the deal. I have a decent Fender Stratocaster that I love. However, sitting away in storage for years, I have a Squier Stratocaster that my mother bought my shortly before she passed away. It is approx. 1998 year. It is of sentimental value, and I know squier is fender’s cheap beginners brand. But I just bought a vintage 1950s fender strat neck for it, and plan to put in a new loaded pickguard with lace sensor pickups in it. I know this may seem silly but this guitar is special to my just because it’s from my beloved mother. I want to make it all that it can be. So assuming I put in good pickups and with the 50’s genuine fender neck, what else do I need to upgrade to make it a true fender and not a squier? Thanks!!!

St. Judas asked: My original bass guitar was 1957 Fender P-Bass. I was forced to sell it back to the person I bought it from and I ended up buying a low level Ibanez GSR200 (I bought my a while ago, back when they only had one volume and two tone nobs). I’m in the market to buy a new bass guitar, and I’m torn between a Rickenbacker 4003 and a vintage/reissue Fender 1957 P-Bass. Both sound really good and look equally impressive. The kind of music I play is very broad, ranging from sock-hop 60’s music to thrash/death metal. The music I don’t play is Country and Blues. Opinions? Thoughts? Feedback? All comments are welcome.
One more thing. I’m not into slap bass or any other kind of “fancy bass playing.” Nothing against it, just not my style.
