kalebselby asked: I recently bought a vintage 335 copy bass guitar. it has a PHAT pickup right below the neck (it’s about the size of a boss pedal) and besides the 335 style body is one of the reasons I bought the guitar.
but after trying to play it during a gig, i noticed that only the A string and D string pick up at normal volume, the E and G strings are really quiet. I had to crank up the volume AND the the bass to get any reasonable level out of the E string and it just sounded horrible.
I’ve already spent a reasonable amount getting this old girl gig-ready (luthier, new flatwounds, mean vintage strap etc) so I dont want to spend too much more at my rip-off luthiers just for them to charge me and not actually do anything. I also really don’t want to have to replace the pickup (or at least not the outer shell, I could probably swap over some electrics underneath as long as it still provides a phat sound… i dunno much about this kinda stuff) so what do you thin kthe problem could be?
the strings are flat and the pickup is flat

Interestingly Enough asked: I’ve never bought an old guitar before (we’re talking 1940′s or so). Heck, I’ve never even played one.
But if I were to get something, what are the electronics like? Can I just plug it up and get it ready to go? Or is there even the same 1/4 inch cable type? Really I know nothing about them.
Thanks guys.
Generally the only problem, yeah, but there is something nice about a vintage buzz, right?

Jon D asked: I don’t get it. How do you classify a guitar as vintage, or new?
no. i have lots of vintage guitars- when i sell i dont write VINTAGE on them. like say i have a guitar made in, oh i dont know, ’59, thats old. then if i have a guitar from ’90, the one in ’90 is still nearly 20 years old- not as old as one almost 50 years old. BUT the ’59 isnt even close to one made in 1800′s! WHAT IS THE REASON THAT MOST THINK THE 59 IS VINTAGE (which i think) AND THE 90 ISNT (which i also think)!!!!!!!!

Braeden H asked: There are no fine tuners, just two screws to raise the bridge on the High E and Low E sides. I am getting insane amounts of buzz, and when I can manage to get the buzz to go away *even a little*, the intonation is terrible. The neck has just been shimmed, and a new zero fret has been installed. What do I do? I love this guitar, and I’m desperate.

Shana Wagner asked: I recently came upon this beautiful vintage guitar. I got it from a friend who told me it was a Teisco from the 60s, but it doesn’t say anything on the guitar.
Anything you can tell me about this guitar would be great! Thanks!

Just me asked: My sister found a vintage 1954 Les Paul guitar in a Gibson hard-shell case with faux fur lining, the guitar and case are in excellent to mint condition. Her boyfriend owns the storage container and received the guitar back in the 70′s on a trade deal for some auto work he did for this guy. He forgot the guitar was in this storage building until today when she was cleaning it out. How do you find out the value of this gem? They don’t have internet to do research so I told them I would try to find out.
No warping or fading
original knobs which were made that year for that specific guitar, strings…everything beautiful

Andrea N asked: I have this old 1970′s guitar, it use to be my mom’s when she was nine, but it has some parts missing, (besides the fact that it NEEDS NEW STRINGS). One of the machine head is missing, and the bridge needs to be replaced. how much do you think it would cost?
This guitar btw isn’t for a nine year old. Its just a regular 1970′s guitar
